Do Unto Others
03:12
|
|||
Do Unto Others (Scripture Song)
The Good Book says to Do Unto Others
And that's the path to Heaven.
Well, I believe the Word and if that's the Way,
Then that's the way I'm livin'.
It's the key to life. It's the way of love.
And when I look at you I see
That you're just the man I wanna do unto
What I'd have you do to me.
CHORUS
I'm gonna do unto you what
I'd have you do to me
Kiss you on a starlit night.
And take your tender hand in mine
And feel my heart take flight.
I'm gonna say, “I do” and hold you tight
And wash your dishes every night.
I'm gonna do unto you what I wanna do
What I want you to do to me.
VERSE
Well, some women just wanna lead you on
And play mean games with your head.
You never know where you're goin' with a girl like that
Until she's left you for dead.
But that ain't me, so forget the ride.
I'll embrace you in the Golden Rule.
It's the straight and narrow, just marry me, baby
And we'll be nobody's fool.
CHORUS
I'm going to do unto you what I'd have you do to me,
Kiss you in broad daylight.
I wanna be the answer to all your prayers
And see you dressed in white.
I'm gonna raise your kids and grow old with you.
It fills my heart with glee that you're
Just the man I wanna do unto what I'd
Have you do to me.
I'm gonna do unto you what I'd have you do to me,
Kiss you on a moonlit night.
And take your tender hand in mine
And feel my heart take flight.
I'm gonna do unto you what I'd have you do to me,
Beautiful man, divine.
I'm gonna hold you in my lovin' arms
And kiss you all the time.
I'm gonna do unto you what I'd have you do to me.
I'm gonna make you see that I'm
That I'm just the gal you wanna do unto
What you'd have me do to thee.
Ah man!

You Be The
by Holly Robbins
1990
VERSE
You be the bread, I'll be the butter.
You be the father, I'll be the mother, oh please.
Oh please.
You be the salt, I'll be the pepper.
Tell you now, honey, I'd wait forever for you.
Ooh ooh.
CHORUS
Not askin' too much of you, I think.
Just wanna be by your side.
So come on, honey, don't put up a stink
And let me be yer bride!
VERSE
You be the tuna, I'll be the mayo
You be the boat and I'll be the sail for you.
Ooh ooh.
You be the pearl, I'll be the clam.
You be the toe and I'll be the toe jam.
A-am.
CHORUS
So sit down your fanny and listen to reason
I'll give you a piece of my mind.
They's none more smarter nor sweeter nor pleasin'.
They's none more of my kind.
VERSE
You be the picture, I'll be the frame.
You be the window I'll be the pain.
You be Abbot, I'll be Costello,
You be the carrots and I'll be the green jell-o
Oh oh.
CHORUS
Not askin' too much of you I think.
Just wanna be by your side.
So come on, honey, don't put up a stink.
And let me be your bride.
VERSE
You be the fish, I'll be the sea.
You be the bird and I'll be the bee.
Eeee eeee.
You be the boy, I'll be the girl.
Come on, honey, let's give it a whirl.
Earl.
CHORUS
I already told your ma and pa,
I set the place and time.
If you'll just come along peaceably
Then everything will be just fine.
You be the bread, I'll be the butter.
You be the father, I'll be the mother, oh please.
Oh, please.

Holly Jolly
(Tune: Jolly Ol' St. Nicholas)
by Holly Robbins
Jolly dear best friend of mine,
Lean your ear this way;
I want all the world to hear
What I'm going to say.
Christmas Eve is coming soon
And all the whole year through
I've waited for this night to say
That I'm in love with you.
CHORUS
What's it gonna be, baby?
Will you be my Santa, baby?
What's it gonna be, baby?
Be the one for me.
VERSE
I wanna be your Mrs. Santa Claus
With you--my dear old man.
And this is what I'll bring to you
If you tell me that I can:
I'll hold you in the rain, dear,
We'll fly the frosty sky
And with a sleigh ride for a chariot,
We'll watch the stars go by.
We'll keep a cozy fire burnin'
And a house full of little elves.
Then send them packin' up to bed
And have the cottage to ourselves.
CHORUS
What's it gonna be, baby?
Say you'll be my Santa, baby.
What's it gonna be, baby?
Say you'll marry me.
VERSE
Then we'll eat the Christmas cookies, darlin',
Put presents beneath the tree.
And watch those little eyes light up--
Their gift to you and me.
Then I'll kiss you 'neath the mistletoe
And here the words I'll say:
That livin' with you baby's just like
Christmas every day.
CHORUS
What's it gonna be, baby,
Say you'll be my Santa, baby.
What's it gonna be, baby,
Say that you will be
My Santa for me.

To the Vegetables
by Holly Robbins
O, why to the rose again, my love?
Thine ode's as from a parrot.
Away with the flowers! Proclaim instead
The virtues of a carrot:
O charming carrot aglow with sun,
Thy flesh of orangey hue,
What sprightly green locks upon thy crown
Bespangled by the dew.
And so-what of lilies when the eggplants bloom
In regal robes of wine
Like giant purple raindrops falling
Drooping from the vine.
How laughable the daffodil!
Her offer of love's as mud
Against tomato's declaration
Gushing out like blood.
Thou saucy pink tulip, flirtatious and flaunting
Thy beauty 'gainst collard greens' life.
Thy substance hath naught but the depth of a fling;
The latter the love of a wife.
O ravish the radish! Bok choy my joy!
All hail the emerald kale!
Thou turnip slice so crisp, so white
As fine the bride's fair veil.
Red onion kiss of savory mist,
Thou verdant, firm cucumber,
Into thy vinegar bath, my loves
And there embrace in slumber.
Thou leek and cabbage condescend.
Potato likewise stoop.
And salsify, in unity,
Come meet thy death in soup!
O spinach terrifich! Zucchini prolifich!
Dear beet, thou art truthfully meat!
And verily, velery crisp juicy celery,
Bright peppers, o yeppers, thou sweet!
O baby peas, please! And pumpkin?--no bumpkin.
Thou beans, avocados and corn,
What gracious delights art thou all to my soul
From Mother Earth's generous horn.
To rhubarb and shallots and lentils ascribe
The quintessential fabric of man;
Just so, t'is an honor to be what one eats I think;
Therefore I yam.
O, lettuce make haste not one morsel to waste!
Sing every gardenfruit's ballad!
Call each to the ark, that finebounteous plate,
Of the bard's summerglorious salad.
Nay, do not disparage us for want of asparagus
Whose spears defeat hunger by war!
Nor begrudge us the parsnip's blithe shield before us
Nor artichoke's blade anymore.
One cried she'd never see a poem lovely as a tree;
Why not then the squash to praise now?
Why not laud the chard who works just as hard
And dies for the poet as chow!
For many may scoff (and I know they are off)
At the promise of Brussels sprouts' meter.
Or okra condemn with proud diadem
The critic whose tongue's a cruel beater.
But I care not one schmoccoli
that nothing rhymes with broccoli;
'Tis the fastest way to grow-a-tree!
And likewise each vegetable of its very own right
Is worthy material for poetry.

For Angel
03:34
|
|||
For Angel
(God Created Man)
Fairest angel—perfect, divine—
How have I longed to make you mine.
Essence of light descended on the wing,
How e'er did Heaven part with thee?
What holy magic dost thou to me?
How can I ever confess to thee?
(Temple and Cosmos)
Moonbeams on the river,
Cool starlight in drops of rain,
Warm embrace of velvet night,
White sunrise in the east again—
Heaven's gems of glory
E'er circling in their rhyme,
Skies, oceans, seas
All breathing in time.
Earth's every wonder—
God's grand poetry—
All of these beauties art thou to me.
(Fantasy and Reality)
Sunlight-gilded roses—
My true love's visible desire.
Thy kiss of honey-ripened,
summer-brightened
Wildberries' crimson fire.
Yet ne'er would I touch thee
Nor fail my heart to see
Heaven's blest grace
Bestowed thus gen'rously;
Thy hand in friendship—extended to me!
And that my mortal eyes
did gaze briefly on thee!
(Apocalypse and Eternity)
Tho' rage furious tempest
And earthly joys pass away
Beyond sorrow and even death,
Age and infirmity
Tho' thy sweet visage
No more can I see,
Nor miracle of Heaven
E'er give thee to me—
Still shall this doctrine distill upon thee—
My young free soul e'er in love with thee!

Trust You
03:08
|

Trust You
by Holly Robbins
I heard your voice in my mind.
You said, "Trust me." And I do.
Those words of comfort came to me
When I was feeling blue.
Sometimes you need your space
And it's something you can't say.
Sometimes your heart is breaking
And you need some time away.
Chorus
Well, space and time are what I've got
And I'll give it all if you need a lot.
'Cause I trust you. Baby, I trust you.
Verse
How much time will go by
before I see you again?
How long until I hear your voice
Just calling me a friend?
Well, it doesn't matter anyway,
'Cause I give this gift to you;
I'm as much your friend these grayest days
As when our sky was blue.
Chorus
Yes space and time are what I've got
And I'll give it all if you need a lot.
'Cause I trust you. Baby, I trust you.
Bridge
I see I've hurt you, baby, and maybe
I'm seeing it too late.
But I'm learning how to listen
And I'm sorry for the wait.
Next time I have a friend like you
I'll remember what you taught me.
Verse
No, you never wanna hurt me, baby,
That's something that I know.
But sometimes the truth hurts anyway
So I'll hurt then let it go.
If goodbye is what you'd have me say,
I'll grow some wings and fly away.
I trust you. Baby, I trust you.
Chorus
Yes space and time are what I've got
And I'll give it all if you need a lot.
'Cause I trust you. Baby, I trust you.

Crazy Stalker Lady
04:54
|
|||
Crazy Stalker Lady
I thought I'd never get over you.
I can still feel the knife right now.
But the sun is starting to shine again
And I'm making it through somehow.
It killed me to write that letter goodbye,
But I meant every tear-stained scrawl.
Though the only way to prove it at first
Was to chain myself to the wall.
(CHORUS)
'Cause I felt just like a crazy stalker lady—
Just one more nut on the road.
Drunken with passion, driven by obsession
A conniving and
Home-wrecking witch with a toad.
Wanted to spy on you and hunt you in the night
And spend hours writing poetry.
But there had to be more to life than you
And it was time to find the way.
---
I was terrified of losing you—
Of admitting the empty space—
And all the scary demons deep inside
I'd been so afraid to face.
But from the mirror chick's anxieties,
Psychosis and freaking OCDs there's no flight.
On this crazy ride I've been Jekyll and Hyde,
But this time Jekyll won the fight.
(CHORUS)
'Cause I'm not gonna be some crazy stalker lady—
Just one more nut on the road.
Drunken with passion, driven by obsession
A conniving and
Home-wrecking witch with a toad
Not gonna spy on you nor hunt you in the night
Nor write a single verse of poetry.
I have faith that there's more to life than you
And with God I'll find the way.
---
It's starting not to be about staying away
But doing things that I hadn't planned
Like eating again and sleeping some too,
Writing music and playing in the band.
God has softened my heart with the cup of pain
And now I'm changing in a whole new way;
Instead of forcing reality out of bliss,
I'm finding bliss in reality.
(CHORUS)
'Cause I'm not gonna be a crazy stalker lady,
I'm gonna fly outside in the sun.
I'm gonna live life with passion
And breathe the fresh air
And learn how to laugh once again.
I'm gonna find a new love and have a family
And be the girl I've always longed to be.
I'm seeing that there's more to life than you
And now I think that I've finally found me.
(END CHORUS)
'Cause I'm not gonna be a crazy stalker lady—
Just one more nut on the road.
Drunken with passion, driven by obsession
A conniving and
Home-wrecking witch with a toad.
I'm not spying on you, nor hunting in the night
There's not a syllable of poetry.
Now I know that there's more to life than you.
Thank God I've finally found the way.
Soon I'll be better than new.
I'm getting over you.

Eternal Spring
04:36
|
|||
Eternal Spring by Holly Robbins
(Tune: “Tennessee Waltz”)
(Spring, Summer and Fall)
The dawn of springtime in your eyes,
What a beautiful surprise—
To find myself falling in love.
The light of Heaven in your eyes,
What a wonderful surprise—
With an angel I had fallen in love.
But with the passion in my heart
I mourned the ending from the start;
The bitter promise of sadness and snow.
Then came the witness of the trees
In the falling of the leaves
That the time had come for me to let you go.
(Winter)
That sudden winter of goodbyes
Froze the tears falling from my eyes
And those mem'ries of you,
my bright summer friend,
Filled my soul with such despair;
Those dreams of you so hard to bear.
How will I ever . . . how can I ever live again?
“God take his image from my mind,
For I would rather be blind
Than live one moment without his divine smile.”
But God had something different planned.
He broke my heart and He took my hand
And I cried in His arms for a while.
(Discovery)
He showed me Heaven, showed me Hell.
Brought fire and ice so I'd learn to tell
Summer's warm green days from winter's
cold gray night.
He brought a blue sky to heal my pain,
Quenched my thirst with Autumn rain,
And embraced me in both darkness and light.
Then he reminded me anew
Of when I fell in love with you
And in that sweet perfect vision in His hand
Was God's redemption in your eyes;
What a beautiful surprise!
And the promise of springtime again.
(The Promise of Spring)
And now you're with me every day
Whether you go or if you stay,
'Cause I know now true love has no end.
As the sunshine melts the snow,
God has given me to know
That someday I will hold you again.
What is love here on this earth
But seasons of conception and of birth
Of heav'nly ties that one day will never end?
And then I'll never say goodbye again
To you my love, my angel friend,
In the sunshine of a new eternal spring.

Hypothermia
04:57
|
|||
(VERSE)
There's a freshly fallen snow
And the stars of icy white
Are sharp in the perfect blackness
Of this clear and moonless night.
Sable Sky, your hard embrace, so cold,
Is irresistible and bold.
I bid farewell to all that's warm
To fall asleep here in your arms.
(CHORUS)
I feel my spirit breaking free
As I breathe this new life into me
And the air is still and silver
On my skin.
I come to you, Persephone,
To give you all that's left of me--
One seed from the Tree of Life.
Make me holy in your sacrifice.
(VERSE)
Oh, give me now, Obsidian Night,
An angel robe of glist'ning white
And crown my head with Heaven's
Frosty starlight.
Somehow I've forgotten all I know.
I breathe your chill into my soul.
The fey are hard and black as coal
And they're dancing in the snow!
(CHORUS)
I feel my spirit breaking free
As I breathe this new life into me
And the air is still and silver
On my skin.
I come to you, Persephone,
To give you all that's left of me--
One seed from the Tree of Life.
Make me holy in your sacrifice.
(VERSE)
Oh, bless this bed where I belong
Until Demeter sing her song.
Redeem me for my Mother
And for her trees.
For now I've nothing left
But the ecstasy of Death.
Oh, you love me where I lay.
You take my breath away!
(CHORUS)
I feel my spirit flying free
As I breathe the darkness into me
And the air is still and silver
In my skin.
Embrace me now, Persephone!
I give you all that's left of me--
One seed from the Tree of Life.
Now I'm holy in your sacrifice.

Summer Girl

|

Summer Girl
I drew the hard line every time
But I could never get it right.
It was the quintessential tragedy
In my world of black and white.
And then the fire of Heaven came,
Consumed my charcoal in the flame;
It was the end of shadow black
And winter white.
It was the world come to an end
But I'm alright. Now . . .
CHORUS
My colors bleed into the misty sunset.
I cannot tell where I end off and you begin!
My soul's a raging fire in the wind.
And I'm not afraid to look into the sun.
VERSE
No, I never saw a solid line
In the rainbow that appeared.
God's rays of summer glory in that sky
Are the paints I mixed with tears.
My brush flies lightly 'cross the blue
I'm so happy and in love with you.
You were the end of shadow black
And winter white.
You were my world come to an end
But I'm alright. Because . . . (to chorus)
BRIDGE
How lightly fall the blossoms now,
The leaves and glist'ning snow. Somehow
I carry August's fire inside my soul.
'Cause I'm a bright summer girl
In this watercolor world.
END CHORUS
So now my colors bleed into the misty sunset,
I'm the sky!
I cannot tell where I end off and you begin,
Oh, how we fly!
Our soul's this raging fire in the watercolor wind.
That's why I'm not afraid to look into the sun.
No, I'm not afraid to look into the sun!

August Rush

|

August Rush
I've got my wild horse on the bridle
And I'm runnin' him as fast as I can
With the wind in my face
And that sun in my eyes
And the leather in my hand.
I lost my hat 'bout a mile or so back.
He took off like a shot and I
Had that heart attack.
Now we're flyin' through the countryside
Faster than I could have planned.
But I'm so much more alive now
Than when the ride began.
CHORUS
I'm on my way to Heaven as the crow flies,
You flaming sun, you crimson skies.
Now we're whipping like a wildfire
Blazing through the brush.
The world's gone gold as far as the eye can see
In one glorious rush of ecstasy.
And all my soul is on fire
In an August Rush.
__
You were a wild angel thing come to me
From only Heaven knows where
With the wind in your face
And that sunlight spilling like a
Waterfall through your hair.
I lost my heart about a mile or so back;
You rocked my soul just like some heart attack.
We shot through the countryside
Faster than I could have planned.
But I'm so much more alive now
Than when the ride began.
CHORUS
We were on our way to Heaven as the crow flies.
You were the flaming sun and the crimson skies.
We were whipping like a wildfire
Blazing through the brush.
The world turned gold as far as the eye could see
In one glorious rush of ecstasy.
And all my soul was on fire
In an August rush.
BRIDGE
So thank you, baby, for the ride
And thank you, baby, for the fall;
One more goodbye's not gonna hurt me at all.
No baby one more goodbye can't hurt me.
Not at all.
CHORUS
I'm still on my way to Heaven as the crow flies,
You flaming sun, you crimson skies,
I'm still whipping like a wildfire
Blazing through the brush.
The world's still gold as far as I can see
From that glorious rush of ecstasy.
And my soul is still on fire
In that August Rush.
That's how I'll remember you forever--
In an August rush.

Supply and Demand

I don't need to own the Wasatch Mountains
Nor live in the Taj Mahal.
Nor keep the pyramids of Egypt to myself.
I don't even need to be special at all.
CHORUS
No, I don't need to be your baby, baby,
I don't need to be number one.
I don't need to be your right-hand lady.
I don't care if I don't sit shotgun.
Just like I wouldn't try to hog that
Mona Lisa's funky frown,
I'm sure there's plenty of you
To go around.
___
No, I'd never shut down Lady Liberty and say,
“From now on, you'll only shine for me.”
Nor place an extra lien on the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
No, I'd never stake a claim in Chichen Itza.
CHORUS
No, I don't need to be your baby, baby,
I don't need to be number one.
I don't need to be your right-hand lady.
I don't care if I don't sit shotgun.
Though my heart is flying like a bird in the sky,
I've got both feet on the ground.
And I'm sure there's plenty of you
To go around.
BRIDGE
I don't need the moon or your diamond ring.
No, baby I don't need anything.
All I want is to love you.
And baby, that's what I've got
Because I love you.
___
I don't need to be the Queen of England
To see the Tower of London in the moonlight.
Don't need the title to the real estate
Where stands the Tree of Life.
No, all I want is a little bite.
END CHORUS
No, I don't need to be your baby, baby,
I don't need to be number one.
I don't need to be your right-hand lady.
I don't care if I don't sit shotgun.
And though I know in my heart you're worth
More than a billion bucks a pound,
I'm sure there's plenty of you
To go around.
And just like the sunlight up above you and
Baby, it's shining down,
I'm sure there's plenty of you
To go around.
No, I don't need to be your baby, baby,
I don't need to be number one.

How Does It Feel?
Holly Robbins
March 19-24, '08
I came to pick you up yesterday
But I hadn't planned
To recognize you from a mile away
Just by the way you stand.
If I hadn't been wearing my seat belt, honey,
I'd have fallen right out of the car
'Cause you ain't got a clue
How freaking sexy you are.
CHORUS
How's it feel to look like that?
Oh, baby, what's that like for you?
To look so good, baby, all of the time . . .
To be the scenic view?
You think you're just like anybody, baby,
Just trying to survive.
But can't you see that people are trying to drive?
Oh, baby, how's it feel to be so sexy?
__
What you do for a plain old T-shirt, darlin',
I'll never understand.
And those ugly baggy bluejeans
Send me right into La-La Land.
The thought of losing my cool now, honey,
Just fills me with dread.
You might help me out by wearing a brown bag
Over your head.
CHORUS
How's it feel to look like that?
Oh, baby, what's that like for you?
To look so totally hot all of the time?
Yeah, being the scenic view.
You think you're being all harmless down there
Just fixing your sink, but can't you see
That people are trying to think?
Oh, baby, how's it feel to be so sexy?
BRIDGE
There's this nice little thing called a mirror, honey,
Yeah, you might wanna check it out.
Then maybe you'll see why people are staring--
What the fuss is all about.
CHORUS
Oh, baby, how's it feel to look like that,
Oh, baby, what's that like for you?
Walking around like some Greek God all of the time,
Yeah, being the scenic view.
You think you're nothing special, baby,
I find that hard to believe
'Cause can't you see that people are trying to breathe?
Oh, baby, how's it feel to be so sexy?

The Star of the Show
by Holly Robbins
Seems like every place we go everybody knows you.
Some stare and some say hi and the crowds enclose you.
What is it about you, baby? Your style? Your smile?
'Cause whatever it is you got makes the world go wild.
CHORUS
The trees are clapping in the breeze.
The birds are cheering you in the trees.
The clouds are cryin' and the wind is yelling, “Woo hoo!”
Autumn leaves are the red carpet at your feet,
Yeah, being so famous must be sweet
And your song's this happy music in my soul.
Well it's all about you, baby.
You're the star of the show.
VERSE
It seems the whole world loves you as much as I do.
I've seen how the sunset blushes pink every time she sees you.
We walk the beach and the ocean waves.
The young gulls cry and the big sea caves.
One look at you, sweet baby, and the mountain's high.
And I know just how she feels 'cause so am I.
(CHORUS)
You're the latest rage and the world's your stage
Your fans make such a racket.
The rain's always fallin' down at your feet
And the wind grabs your jacket.
In spring you make the rivers laugh
And the flowers bloom for your autograph
And tell me, baby, why is the sky so blue?
Well, it must be something you did because it's all about you.
(CHORUS)
BRIDGE
Then you close your eyes and folks that's all,
The cloak of night's your curtain call.
No I never mind the roar of thunder clapping for you.
What else were storms and lightning made to do?
CHORUS
And now the trees give a standing ovation, baby,
You're the greatest new sensation.
The roses are flyin' and the
Wind is yellin' woo hoo!
And all the stars above are your name in lights
Yeah bein' so famous suits you just right
And when you hear me singing this song, I hope you know
That it's all about you, baby. You're the star of my show.
